The Rev. Vernon A. Victorson has been pastor at First Lutheran since January of 2000. He was ordained in 1971 after graduating form the Lutheran School of Theology at Chicago. His first call was to Trinity Lutheran in Castleton-on-Hudson. Subsequently he would serve parishes in Utica and Williamsville, New York before coming to Albany in 2000. Pastor and his wife, Kay, live in Albany and have three grown children.

Pastor Victorson has held a number of responsibilities within the synod and in the communities of which he has been a part. Currently he serves on the synod's Candidacy Committee and as member of the board of the Capital Area Council of Churches

Pastor Victorson believes that First Lutheran is poised for resurgence as a center for ministry in the name of Jesus in this time and in this place. He is most confident that with Christ at the center First Lutheran has much to give in the community, the church and the world.
